Point Cook: Close to the City with the Coast at your doorstep!

Point Cook is only 25 kilometres from Melbourne and with some new land estates situated directly on the edges of Port Phillip Bay; it is not surprising it is the happening place for new home buyers. Located within the Wyndham City Council who promotes Point Cook as; “City, Coast and Country” has experienced substantial growth along with ‘neighbours’ Tarneit, Truganina and Wyndham Vale.  As recently as 1996, Point Cook was considered a rural community, but by 2016 its population is estimated to exceed 40,000.

The principal areas of population are Werribee and Hoppers Crossing, while Werribee South is home to one of the most significant market garden regions in the state and Laverton North has a major industrial area.

Point Cook is located to the south of the Princes Freeway, and is served by the Point Cook Road and Forsyth Road exits. The Palmers Road off-ramp is an alternate route onto the freeway from Point Cook Road. Point Cook residents enjoy easy access to the city via the Princes Freeway, Western Ring Road, Western Freeway, Westgate Freeway, Deer Park bypass and Geelong Ring Road.

Public transport is provided by the nearby railway stations which are located at Laverton, and Hoppers Crossing, on the Werribee line, for direct and easy access to the CBD.

Easy access to both of Melbourne’s airports is within an approx 30-40 min drives to either Avalon or Tullamarine airports.

Major tourism and open space attractions include the Werribee Open Range Zoo, Werribee Park Mansion, Point Cook RAAF Museum, Point Cook Homestead and the National Equestrian Centre (Werribee).

Lots of exciting developments have been earmarked for the area such as the Wyndham Harbour which is a $440m project that will transform the Werribee South foreshore into a boating mecca along with retail and residential elements.

Wyndham City Council has a thriving sports community, including:

Point Cook Football Club,  Point Cook Cricket Club, Point Cook Jets Soccer Club, Sanctuary Lakes Golf Club, Hoppers Crossing Sports Club and Altona Netball Association to mention a few.

NB.  Wyndham is home to the Werribee Tigers VFL football team

Health & Community Services

For maternity and neonatal services, general surgical and medical services, emergency services, aged care, palliative care and home and community care, are all serviced by the Werribee Mercy Hospital which is the public hospital that serves the south western region of Melbourne.

Other health services in the Point Cook community are Point Cook Medical Centre, Laverton Medical Centre, Hoppers Crossing Medical Centre, Wyndham Health Care (Werribee), and Werribee Family & Children Medical Centre.
