Officer is located in Cardinia Shire - one of the fastest growing regions of metropolitan Melbourne. It is located around 50km south-east of the Melbourne CBD.
Cardinia Shire extends from the Dandenong Ranges in the north to Westernport Bay in the south. It comprises rapidly growing residential areas and rural
farmland accessed by Monash Freeway and Princes Highway.

Emerald Park Lake is Cardinia's premier park and tourist attraction. Situated in the heart of Emerald in the Dandenong Ranges, the park is approximately
one hour's drive east of Melbourne. As one of the destination points for the iconic Puffing Billy, the park offers a range of activities including picnics,
walking trails, paddleboats, fishing, and the largest model railway display in the Southern Hemisphere.
Puffing Billy Steam Railway is Australia's oldest steam railway, and travels through thick forests and lush fern gullies.
Gumbuya Park, in Tynong, is Victoria's original nature and family fun theme park with stunning natural bushland, native Australian wildlife and a large variety of birds. Fun rides include twister karts, mini cars and paddle boats, and also mini golf. It is set on 430 acres, and only 45 minutes from the city.
Cardinia Shire also has two multi-use trails: Cardinia Aqueduct Recreation Trail (CART), and Emerald-Cockatoo Recreation Trail (ECRT).
Other attractions include: Cardinia Cultural Centre (Pakenham); Cardinia LIFE; aboriginal heritage sites; Pakenham township; railway towns (Nar Nar Goon, Tynong, Garfield and Bunyip); Bunyip State Park; Cardinia Reservoir Park; Kurth Kiln Regional Park; Asparagus country (Cardinia & Koo Wee Rup).
EDUCATION & SPORT
An Officer precinct plan has eight new government schools as a primary objective.
The Cardinia Shire also has quality educational institutions in nearby townships such as Beaconsfield, Bunyip, Cardinia, Catani, Cockatoo, Cora Lynn, Emerald, Garfield, Gembrook, Koo Wee Rup, Lang Lang, Nar Nar Goon, Pakenham, Tonimbuk, Tynong and Upper Beaconsfield.

Officer has excellent train, bus and taxi services at its immediate disposal. It is situated on the Pakenham line, and there is also a V/Line service passing through Cardinia Shire.
Meanwhile, there are 11 local bus routes and a taxi service that operates through Pakenham, Officer and Koo Wee Rup.
Casey Hospital, in Berwick, and Cardinia Casey Community Health Service provide an array of services within Cardinia Shire.
